NEW Video materials now available

Talk to Think is the newest addition to Worcestershire LEA’s  popular collection of video training materials, exploring how teachers can promote the development of their pupils’ thinking skills in both the primary and secondary phases.

The video deals with a topic that concerns all teachers: how to use pupil-to-pupil talk to support learning. It exemplifies the features of effective collaborative talk in both primary and secondary phases; it demonstrates how this type of talk impacts upon the quality of thinking; and it shows what teachers must do to develop their pupils’ collaborative talk skills.

Filmed in a variety of Early Years settings in Worcestershire, All the Cakes are Different celebrates young children’s thinking and the skill of adults in creating positive learning environments.

Thinking Skills, Thinking Schools describes the classroom climate that encourages the development of independent thinkers. It visits a total of seven classrooms in both phases to show effective thinking in action and what teachers do to make it happen.

“New knowledge and alternative strategies for thinking are socially constructed in the classroom not only through informed teacher instruction but through practical activities, dialogue, reflection and discussion with peers and adults.”
